Devils Lake loses to the Bruins at home in an EDC match up.

The Fargo South Bruins were too much for the Lady Firebirds to handle on Thursday night.

The Bruins took a demanding 10-0 lead in the first match of the night. Devils Lake finally got on track and cut the lead in half to make it a 12-6 match.

They would pull within five to make the score 17-12. The Bruins worked hard the rest of the match and won five of the final seven points to go on to take the first match by a final of 25-16.

The second match of the night was dominated by Fargo South from start to finish. They got off to a 5-1 which turned into an 18-5 lead in a hurry. The Bruins put the pedal on the gas and finished the Lady Firebirds off quick by a final of 25-9.

The third match was similar to the second and saw the Bruins take a 5-1 lead once again. Their lead stayed consistent throughout the match and they led 14-7 midway through the match.

The Bruins looked like they were on their way to close out the third match as quickly as the second but the Lady Firebirds found some fight in them and fought back. The Bruins were up 21-11 but couldn't finish as quickly as they hoped.

Devils Lake connected on eight of the next twelve points to make it a game but couldn't put a big enough rally together. The Bruins took the third and final match by a score of 25-19.

“We have to be the team that we can be. There's things were doing alright but we just have to do the good things all the time,” said head coach Warren Michael.

The Lady Firebirds will play their final home game of the season on Tuesday night which will also be senior night. They host Grand Forks Red River with a schedule start time of 7 p.m.
