  • Art and Education Week activities will continue this week at Cankdeska Cikana Community College in Fort Totten.

  • Art and Education Week activities will continue this week at Cankdeska Cikana Community College in Fort Totten. The week began Thursday, Oct. 17 with opening ceremonies and featured special speakers and presentations plus a traditional powwow held in the school’s gymnasium on Saturday.
    The schedule continues this week:
    Monday
    On Monday, Oct. 21 the Songs for Spirit Lake art exhibit will be in the CCCC Maintenance Bay from 10 a.m. until 7 a.m. and campus tours are available upon request.
    From 1 - 8 p.m. there will be movies and popcorn in the CCCC amphitheatre.

    Tuesday
    On Tuesday, Oct. 22 the Songs for Spirit Lake art exhibit will be in the CCCC Maintenance Bay from 10 a.m. until 7 a.m. and campus tours are available upon request.
    At 10 a.m. Dakota History Movies will be shown in the CCCC amphitheatre. the title of the movie will be “Mni Wakan Oyate, uprise causes” by Sheldon Wolfchild, Dakota 38.
    At 5 p.m. supper will be provided.
    At 7 p.m. Jackie Bird will perform in the CCCC amphitheatre.

    Wednesday
    On Wednesday, Oct. 23 the Songs for Spirit Lake art exhibit will be in the CCCC Maintenance Bay from 10 a.m. until 7 a.m. and campus tours available upon request.
    Starting at 1 p.m. will be Heritage and History with LaDonna Brave Bull Allard from Standing Rock Tourism in the CCCC amphitheare.
    Then at 3:30 - 5 p.m. Healer’s Perspective with Laidman Fox, Jr., Chief Arvol Lookinghorse in the CCCC amphitheatre.
    At 5 p.m. supper will be provided.
    From 5 - 7 p.m. will be the Community Day of Prayer and Ihanktuwan “dakota” Drum in the CCCC amphitheatre.

    Thursday
    On Thursday, Oct. 24 the Songs for Spirit Lake art exhibit will be in the CCCC Maintenance Bay from 10 a.m. until 7 a.m. and campus tours available upon request.
    From 8:30 a.m. to noon the topic is Spirit Lake Resources and Programs in the CCCC amphitheatre.
    Lunch is provided at noon.
    From 1 - 5 p.m. Spirit Lake Resources and Programs continued in the CCCC amphitheatre with the Spirit Lake Drum.
    Supper will be provided at 5 p.m.
    At 7 p.m. there will be a comedy show in the CCCC amphitheatre with Mylo Smith.

    Friday
    On Friday, Oct. 25 the Songs for Spirit Lake art exhibit will be in the CCCC Maintenance Bay from 10 a.m. until 7 a.m. and campus tours available upon request.
    At 9 a.m. will be the opening of Native Voices exhibit with Dr. Don Lindberg, Drector of National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the CCCC drum group in the CCCC amphitheatre.
    Page 2 of 2 - At 11 a.m. will be the Spirit Lake Elder Honoring and the CCCC Drum Group in the CCCC amphitheatre.
    Lunch will be provided at noon.
    Starting at 1 p.m. they will show the movies featuring Michael and Eddie Spears in the CCCC amphitheatre.
    At 5 p.m. supper will be provided.
    At 7 p.m. Michael and Eddie Spears, actors and motivational speakers will appear in the CCCC amphitheatre.
