The Devils Lake Firebirds dropped their fifth game of the year on Friday night to Fargo Davies.
The Firebirds scored two and a half minutes into the game when Blake Prozinski ran it in from two yards out to give the Firebirds a 7-0 lead.
Unfortunately this was the only time the Firebirds would get on the scoreboard.
Fargo Davies answered back on the ensuing kickoff. Joradan Hjelseth took it 91 yards to pay dirt.
Davies got on the scoreboard one more time before the quarter ended to take a 14-7 lead.
Two second quarter touchdowns by Jordan Hjelseth and Alex Groth gave the Eagles a 28-7 lead going into the half.
Groth went on to score his second touchdown of the game midway through the third quarter to extend the Eagles lead to 36-7.
An interception return for a touchdown late in the third quarter by Jordan Hjelseth gave the Eagles a demanding 43-7 lead which ended up being the final score.
The Eagles outgained the Firebirds on the ground and through the air.
Davies finished with 246 yards on the ground and 31 yards through the air while the Firebirds finished with 171 rushing yards and zero passing yards.
Austin Schall’s performance was one of the bright spots for the Firebirds. He finished with 129 yards off of 24 attempts.
Trent Reierson led the way on the defensive side with 5.5 tackles, with three of them being for a loss.
The Firebirds return home this Friday night when they host Dickinson at 7 p.m.
