The Lake Region State College volleyball team continued their run on a terrific season by defeating Williston State College in impressive fashion on Thursday night.
The Lady Royals made few mistakes in the first set and went on to win the set 25-17.
The second set was a competitive one but the Lady Royals didn’t let up and took the second set by a score of 25-19.
In the third set, the Lady Royals took a huge lead and it looked like they were going to win easily. Williston College fought back and made it a 24-23 game in favor of the Lady Royals.
LRSC finally earned the final point they needed to win the set 25-23 and take a 3-0 victory.
“Passing was essential for this game, we dug well and serve received well. We also served aggressively and that helped us keep them away from a perfect set,” said head coach Brigitte Freschette.
Jasmine Lafournaise led the team with 12 kills and three block kills. Megan Beattie also had an impressive game with 34 digs.
Other key players included Maddi Johnston (14 digs, 8 kills), and Sara Schwanke (13 assists, six kills).
The Lady Royals will stay busy over the weekend when they travel to Whapeton for the NDSCS tournament. the tournament will be Friday Sept. 27 and Saturday Sept. 28.
The Laday Royals next home game is scheduled for October 9 when they take on NDSCS.
