The Devils Lake Lady Firebirds played a competitive first game during Tuesday night’s game against Fargo Davies but couldn’t keep up the momentum in games two and three to fall in three sets.
The first game saw both teams play terrific volleyball with the score going back and forth.
Fargo Davies finally pulled ahead and took the first game by a final of 25-22.
It looked like Devils Lake was in good position to make the second game a competitive one but couldn’t get anything going.
Davies took it to the Firebirds and won the second game by a final of 25-9.
The Firebirds went from a close first game to falling apart in the second and third games. Davies won the third game almost as easily as the first by a final of 25-11.
“We just have to have the focus and the focus was lost at the end of the first game,” said head coach Warren Michael.
Alexa Gathman led the Firebirds with 20 digs while Maranda Hoffner and Miriah Yoder each had five.
“We are getting better but we just have to put it together against a good team,” added Michael.
Leading the team in kills was Brittany Hood with five while Chelsie Schlieve had four.
The Firebirds look to get back on track tomorrow night when they travel to Turtle Mountain at 7 p.m.
