  • Allan G. Tofsrud, 46, of Leeds, N.D., died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

  • Allan G. Tofsrud, 46, of Leeds, N.D., died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, at Leeds Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Budd officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery at Minnewaukan, N.D. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service and time of sharing all at the Leeds Lutheran Church. Music will be from Dan Nybo, organist with Rhonda Thompson and Rita Thompson Halvorson, vocalists.
    Casket bearers will be Richard Reardon, Joel Cichos, Allen Nord, Scott Moen, Faron Stensland, Ernie Gingerich and Greg Konzak.
     Allan Glen Tofsrud was born October 5, 1966 at Rugby, N.D., to Glen and Sandra (Haagenson) Tofsrud. He was raised in the rural Minnewaukan area, attending school in Rugby, Churchs Ferry and graduating from the Minnewaukan High School in 1984. Allan attended Lake Region State College in Devils Lake for a time. Allan and DeShawn Hartl were married July 12, 1986 at Devils Lake. Allan had many passions in life; and most important to him were his wife and family.  He enjoyed attending their sporting activities and spending quality time with them.  He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first grandchild.  Avlyn Tofsrud was born the day after his death. He enjoyed camping, deer hunting, snowmobiling, snow skiing, boating, attending NDSU football and UND Sioux Hockey games.   
    Allan was a lifelong caregiver and caring for the land was important to him.  He grew up on the farm, farmed with his father and eventually farmed his own land which instilled in him a true love for farming and taking care of his land.  Allan started Tofsrud Trucking ten years ago and was farming and trucking until his death.
    Allan was baptized at Antiochia Lutheran Church, rural Churchs Ferry, confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Churchs Ferry and presently a member of Leeds Lutheran Church.  
    Surviving are his wife, DeShawn of Leeds; sons: Michael (Alyssa) Tofsrud of Minnewaukan,  Christopher Tofsrud of Leeds and  daughter,  McKenna Tofsrud at home; granddaughter, Avlyn Tofsrud; his father, Glen (Jane Brown) Tofsrud of Minnewaukan; sisters, Cindy (Steve) Huffman of Leeds, Brenda Severson of Grafton, N.D. and Kari Tofsrud of New Rockford, N.D.; step-grandmother, Elna Haagenson of Devils Lake; aunts and uncles, Roger Tofsrud of Minnewaukan, Duane Tofsrud of Roseville, Minn., Becky (Ronnie) Thompson of Minnewaukan; Larry (Jan) Haagenson of Loveland, Colo., Paul Haagenson of Fargo, N.D.;  father-in-law, J. William (Sharon) Hartl of Starkweather, ND; mother-in-law, Judy (Coby) Barstad of Woodlake, N.D.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John (Kristi) Hartl of Devils Lake, Myron (Stacy) Bjornstad of Maplewood, Minn., Sherry (Branon) Dyke of Surrey, N.D. and Jennifer (Daniel) Tostenson of Jamestown, N.D.; nieces, Ashley, Kylee and Chelsea Rallo, Lydia, Madelyn and Cassie Severson, McKenzie Hartl, Ellie and Rosie Bjornstad, Marissa and Miranda Dyke, and  Ashley Tostenson; nephews, Colton Hartl, Griffin Bjornstad, Conner Dyke, Alex Tostenson and special nephew, Nik Severson, who for a time lived with Allan and his family;  godchildren, Nik Severson, Kylee and Chelsea Rallo, Kasey Eversvik,McKenzie Hartl, and Hunter Cichos and other family members too numerous to mention.
    Page 2 of 2 - Allan was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Tofsrud-Luder; step-father, Michael Luder; maternal grandparents, Boyd Haagenson and Madelyn Hayes; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Agnes Tofsrud; uncle, David Haagenson and aunt, Yvonne Cowan.
