Local drivers are encouraged to drive safely on Highway 2 as road construction begins today west of Devils Lake.

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. -- Construction will begin on US Hwy. 2, from Church's Ferry to Devils Lake on Tuesday, Aug. 13. Construction will take place in various locations in the east bound lane and throughout the west bound lane. The project will include an overlay, rumble stripes and new pavement markings.During construction, speed will be reduced to 60 mph, a width restriction of 11 ft. will be in place, and traffic delays are expected to be minimal.The project is scheduled to be complete in late October.Rear end crashes are the most common in work zones. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, allow extra distance between their vehicles and the vehicle in front of them, use caution and obey flaggers and posted signs.
