Hernando Kurt was born on August 28, 1980 at Devils Lake, N.D., the son of Debra Marie Jerome and Greg Demarrias.  He grew up in the Tokio area and attended Warwick High School.  He received his GED through Lake Region State College.
Amongst his many titles, he was a very good carpenter in which he had a passion for building.  He worked on many building projects all around the area.  Hernando attended college at the Cankdeska Cikana Community College at Fort Totten where he was pursuing a certificate in Carpentry.  He was also involved with many outdoor activities, taking walks, swimming, camping at Turtle River, which he loved, where he and his family went every summer.  He enjoyed spending time with his children and family.
Hernando, was next to the word beautiful, inside and out.  He was a man with many titles. He was a father, brother, uncle, friend, relative, and also a companion.  He also went by the nickname of ?Hernz? to his friends and ?Nando? to those close to him.  Hernando was a good father with so much patience and kindness.  He was also a very good companion sharing many conversations about life.  Most of all he was a kind, gentle man who always had a big smile on his face. Hernando was also very kind and gentle to animals as well.  Although he faced many hardships he was a beautiful man in the midst of it all, teaching people lessons in their lives as well as his own in the most intimate and gentle way.
