We are in the dog days of summer which means that football season is just around the corner.
The Firebirds are hoping to improve off of last seasons 4-5 record and yesterday's camp was a good oppertunity for head coach Jay Schneider to evaluate this years talent.
Players from grades 9-12 got the opportunity to show what they can do throughout the camp which lasted roughly around three and a half hours.
The Firebirds first practice of the season is less than a month away and players are already chomping at the bit.
"We are already looking forward to two-a-days," said the team captains.
The captains of this years team will be Blake Prozinski (RB, OLB), Austin Erickson (TE, OLB), Dallas Anderson (FB, MLB), and Austin Schall (RB, S).
The older guys on the team have plenty of experience under their belt which is why this is a good time for the younger guys to learn.
"Camp is more of a review for us as seniors and our job is to catch up and help out the younger kids coming up," said the captains.
Day two of camp was held this morning. Today's camp was the last time the players can have contact with their coaches before the season starts.
The rest of the offseason will be key for every player.
"We hope to get some guys into the gym and get better strength and conditioning before the season starts."
