  • The Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce announces the hiring of Paula Vistad as the new Chamber Executive Director.
Vistad attended the University of North Dakota with an emphasis on Business Law. Upon moving to Devils Lake she worked for several years with her husband, Kevin, at State Farm Insurance.
Vistad broadened her career path by joining the team at MetroPlains Management where she enjoyed fifteen years assisting in the business of rental property in Devils Lake.
What she says she is most proud of is the recent success of the Alzheimer’s Unit at Heartland Care Center.
Vistad was the Foundation Director at Heartland Care Center from October 2008 to November 2012. During that time she was able to implement such things as the Taste of the Lake Region, Capturing the Moment 5K Walk/Run and the Harvest Festival events to benefit Heartland and help raise awareness. None of these events, Vistad is quick to point out, would have been possible without the help of the donors and the community of Devils Lake.
The Vistads have been active members of the Lake Region for over 30 years. They have two children, Chris and Taylor.
Vistad says she is looking forward to the position of Executive Director of the Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and working with the people of the Lake Region.
“I’m excited to be working with Suzie Kenner, who will continue in her role as the Director of Tourism,” Vistad said.
Kenner had been serving as both Director of Tourism and Executive Director of the Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce since the summer of 2012.
A press release from the Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors states, “There is a relatively small segment of people in the business world, individuals who seem to build relationships, trust and rapport with almost anyone, and then are able to broker the relationships and make connections between people, creating partnerships and alliances and motivating forward momentum to “get things done.”
Paula Vistad is one of those people and “getting things done” and driving results – through collaboration, partnerships and relationships is what she is all about. With an enthusiastic and genuinely friendly attitude, Paula radiates a sincere passion for whatever venture lies ahead.”
Vistad will take over the reigns of the Director position on August 1.
