Journal Staff Report
Tails are wagging all over the Spirit Lake Nation this week.
The Rec Center in Fort Totten has been transformed into a makeshift veterinary clinic and around 50 vets and veterinary students are currently on hand to provide free services to local pet owners.
The free clinic is provided by the Rural Area Veterinary Services, through the Human Society Veterinary Medical Association. It is part of the Native Nations program and is sponsored locally by the CHR (Community Health Representative) office in Fort Totten.
One of the veterinarians said they have been doing some surgeries and vaccinations, but the most common request has been to have the pets spayed and neutered. The special project wraps up today.
