Gordon Johnson, 80, formerly of the Leeds, N.D. and Cando, N.D. area, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013. He was surrounded in love by his wife of 59 years and other family members when he went to his Heavenly Father.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Monday, July 8 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, with Rev. Wayne Sattler officiating. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
Gordon was born June 11, 1933, to Gottfrid and Jennie (Eriksmoen) Johnson. His family lived in the Leeds area where he graduated from high school. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Della Deplazes. Gordon and Della worked side by side building a successful plumbing/heating and excavating business in Leeds and Cando until they retired in 2001. He enjoyed hunting and invented several unique devices. He had a wonderful sense of humor, laughing often while he spent time with family and friends.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Della; and adoring children, Beth Olson, DJ (Dana) Masters and Rose (David) Tibke, all of Minneapolis, Minn., Camille Waldemar of Spring Creek, Nev., Phyllis (Dennis) Berg, and Gregg (Brenda), of Bismarck, N.D. and Glenn (Lee) of Cando; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Alvina (Vince) Grady of Phoenix, Ariz.; and brother, Roger, of Leeds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James.
Gordon will be missed by many who were so proud of who he was. Gordon passed on his legacy of his many wonderful qualities; living honestly, working with integrity, and enjoying the same qualities in others.
