Plans are complete for Thursday's celebration of the Fourth of July for the city of Devils Lake. They include the parade through the downtown shopping district starting at 11 a.m. - line up at Prairie View starting at 10 a.m.
The parade route goes all the way down Fourth Street to Railroad Avenue then turns on Sixth, heads past Proz End of the Line and on down College Drive through the West underpass to Roosevelt Park.
The community picnic will take place in Roosevelt Park following the parade. It is sponsored by the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs of the city and their volunteers plus those from RSVP will be serving hamburgers, brots, hot dogs, cole slaw, chips, pickles and ice cream for dessert. A free-will offering will be taken to help defray the picnic expenses.
The Devils Lake Rural Fire Department will be the cooks for the picnic in the park.
Festivities for the Fourth wrap up with the city's fireworks display that starts at Ruger Park at 10:30 p.m., weather permitting. Last year's show was delayed because of a hospital life flight but, hopefully, that will not happen again this year.
