As you make plans for the week ahead, don’t forget the special events planned to celebrate Churchs Ferry Days coming up Friday through Sunday, June 21 - 23.
Often affectionately called the “Little town that wouldn’t quit,” Churchs Ferry currently has only a handful of residents but over the weekend its population will explode as former residents return to celebrate their history with the Churchs Ferry school and community.
Friday the gathering meets at the Great American Inn in Devils Lake with a social starting at 5 p.m. It’s an informal event with bar and ordering appetizers or later a meal as options, all on your own.
Saturday the events will take place at the Churchs Ferry Alumni Center in Churchs Ferry starting at 10 a.m. with a whole list of things to do like buying raffle tickets, a lemon pastry contest, demonstrations, a silent auction, bingo or card playing - whist or pinochle - a catered Swiss steak community supper served at 5 p.m. - cost is $9 per person - and at 6 p.m. a program and comments from the classes honored. This year it’s classes from 1943, 1953 and 1963.
At 7:30 p.m. there will be the drawings for the raffle tickets and more socializing.
On Sunday there will be a picnic, bring your own picnic lunch, and visiting starting at 1 p.m. at the Churchs Ferry Alumni Center.
