Ruth Catherine Taylor, 97, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
A memorial service celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, June 16 at 3 p.m. at Davis Lutheran Church. Ruth was born in Beardsley, Minn. on May 3, 1916. She married Charles Taylor and raised two children, Alan and Eileen, who were born in Cohasset, Minn. They operated the Arrowhead Cafe in Grand Rapids, Minn.
In 1951 they moved to Devils Lake, N.D. and purchased the Coast to Coast Hardware Store where they worked side by side for 35 years. during this time, Ruth became a very accomplished artist and many of her paintings can be found in the Devils Lake area. They spent many years wintering in Mesa, Ariz., dancing, dining, golfing and socializing with many friends. In 1989, they moved to Dixon, Calif. to be close to Eileen and Dennis Ojakangas’ family.
She was active in the Senior Center, May Fair and Davis Lutheran Church. Alan, his wife, Doris and many family members enjoyed visiting with them. She enjoyed world travel.
Ruth will be dearly missed by seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Charles, her beloved husband of 69 years.
