Word has been received of the passing of Jannette Lou Johnson Evenson of Citrus Heights, Calif.
Jannette Johnson Evenson was born i
n Devils Lake, N.D. on April 9, 1926. Her parents, David and Gertrude Sorbel Johnson owned the Johnson Music Store, where the current post office in Devils Lake is, for years. Her brother, David Jr. Johnson also continued in the music business.
Jannette graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1944 and returned to celebrate the all school reunion in 2000.
Jannette was married to Orrin Evenson, also of rural Devils Lake. they moved to Sacramento, Calif. in 1955. Jannette worked at the McClellan Air Force Base for over 25 years retiring in 1980.
Jannette and her husband both worked at the air base. they lived between Lake Tahoe and the Sacramento area for 62 years.
Jannette was preceded in death by her parents, David and Gertrude; husband, Orrin; and son, Jeffrey Lynn; brothers, Vernon, David Jr., and Norval.
Janette has many relatives in the Lake Region, including two nephews that continue to live in rural Devils Lake, Collin Evenson and Daryl Evenson.
A memorial sevice was held in Citrus Heights.
