Wendelin Vetter, 81, of Devils Lake, N.D., formerly of Esmond, N.D, died, Friday, November 30, 2012 at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake.
Interment will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Esmond.
Wendelin was born July 15, 1931 to Rochus and Catherine Vetter at Selz, N.D. Wendy graduated in 1952 from the Benson County Agricultural and Training School at Maddock, N.D. He entered the US Army in 1953, serving in Germany where he operated heavy equipment, building football fields and gyms for schools near the army base. Wendy understood and spoke the german language. He spent most of his adult life living in Devils Lake and worked for a number of companies over the years, retiring from Border States Paving. He was once married to Agnes Bjerke of Devils Lake.
Wendy was a proud member of the US Coast Guard of Devils Lake and was a life member of the Neathery-Simensen VFW Post #756 of Devils Lake.
Wendy is is survived by two sons, Waun (special friend Debbie Peltier) of Crookston, Minn. and Wade of Devils Lake; two brothers, Herman (Sharon) Vetter of Grand Forks, N.D. And Ronnie (Judi) Vetter of Harvey, N.D.; sister, Bernese Larson of Gillette, Wyo.; sister-in-law, Verna Vetter of Cando, N.D.
Wendy was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Isadore Vetter and a brother-in-law, Elgin Larson.
Lunch will follow the service in the basement of the Catholic Church in Esmond.
