  • Wetland mitigation and flooded roads were two of the main topics at Tuesday’s Ramsey County Commission meeting.
Paul Bjornson from KLJ met with the commission and discussed the progress being made on obtaining the acreage needed by the county for wetland mitigation. Some options were discussed but nothing was finalizedat the meeting. Bjornson will come back to the next meeting with alternate proposals for the commission to consider.
He also reported on the Woods Rutten Road project and  when that project will begin.

    Other business
There was nothing further to report on Courthouse surveillance and the O & M for the dike. The commission discussed a change order for the third floor project, two site authorizations and the summer maintenance contracts.
Steve Moe talked about requests he’d gotten from a neighboring county to use the large scanner which led the commission to discussing the cost that should be associated with allowing others outside Ramsey County to use the scanner. The commission asked Moe to come up with some ideas of what should be charged and to bring that information back to the commission at the next meeting for further discussion.
A number of county residents present at the meeting asked about the plans to abandon the road known as Site 17 north of the Grahams Island Road and to instead raise and widen a longer stretch of road into the area. They questioned the logic of the plans when Site 17 would involve a much smaller area to fix but it was determined that it was the responsibility of the township rather than the county and not something the commission could be involved with.
