Aaron Lewis put on a terrific show on Saturday night at the Spirit Lake Casino and fans were more than pleased.
Lewis opened the set with the song 75 and played most of his hit tracks off of his debut album “The Road.”
Lewis is known as a “rocker” and country music is new for him. Lewis is the lead singer of the band Staind and has had a tremendous amount of success with them. They have released seven studio albums to date along with one live album.
I have been a fan of Staind for a long time now so when I heard Aaron Lewis was doing country music I was a little skeptical. His new album “The Road” is very good and is so different than what I am used to. Lewis has an amazing voice which is why I think he can get away with both rock and country, something that most performers wouldn't be able to get away with.
Other songs that he played throughout the set included The Road, Granddaddy's Gun, Endless Summer, and Red, White & Blue to name a few.
The great thing about the show was that Lewis didn't just play his new stuff, but played classic Staind songs including It's Been Awhile, So Far Away, and Outside
One of the highlights of the show was when Lewis played Bob Seger's Turn the Page. Metallica does a great cover of it, but Lewis' was right on up there and it was one of the best songs he played throughout the entire evening.
Overall, I think Aaron Lewis put on a fantastic show. It was nice to see him switch up from his new music to his classic tunes and back again. The acoustic performance he put on was amazing and his voice sounds the exact same live as it does on CD. I give the show a 4.5 out of a 5.
