  • The Devils Lake Park Board had their monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 15 at the Devils lake City Offices. Some of the topics discussed included a new scoreboard at the fast pitch diamond field, the remodeling of the Roosevelt Park Pavilion and food vendor and alcohol permit fees.
The committee announced that Kory Boehmer will be the head fastpitch coach at Lake Region Sate College. The college would like to use Diamond One as their home field. In order to make it their home field, the college would like a new scoreboard which would cost anywhere from $5,000 to $8,000. They would also like to update the lighting and put advertisements on the outfield fences.
In other sports news, it was announced that Devils Lake will host the Pee Wee A state hockey tournament which is scheduled for the first weekend in March.
Next up on the agenda was the city parks. The city is hoping to receive $85,000-$90,000 from the state in additional potential grants in hopes of $200,000 playground renovation. The committee then talked about an alcohol permit fee they hope to put into effect starting next year. The fee would be fifty dollars  but only for big events.
Unlike the alcohol permit, the food vender permits will be levied starting this year for the Devils Run.
Last, but not least, was the discussion about a baseball coordinator. No one has been hired yet but they are interviewing and searching for a qualified candidate.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 19.
