The community is invited to protect themselves from identity theft and to do spring cleaning at the same time. Citizens Community Credit Union is sponsoring the annual “Free Shred Day” on Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to Noon in the parking lot of the Devils Lake credit union location - located on Highway 2 East.
This event is open and free to the public. Simply drive up to the truck, deposit the items for shredding and you physically see them shredded.
With the ever growing risk of Identity theft, Citizens Community Credit Union feels it important to give the community an opportunity to discard old and confidential documents safely and securely. One way identity thieves get your information is to pick through a person’s trash and look for things to help them obtain your identity. Shredding those items securely helps prevent the information from getting in the wrong hands. Darwin Brokke, President of Citizens Community Credit Union says, “We know how things such as bank statements, old tax filings, old checks or duplicate checks, physician statements, credit card receipts or statements, credit Card offers and many other private documents build up in homes. We want to provide the community with a safe outlet to have them securely destroyed.” Brokke adds, “This also helps to protect the environment of our communities by recycling all the shredded items. It is a win win for the members of the communities and the environment.”
Citizens Community credit Union, North Dakota’s Loan Resource, invites everyone to take advantage of this easy, free and convenient day.
