Dancers from Miki’s School of Dance attended the Regional Celebration Dance Competition in Bismarck. There were 11 Dance Studios from ND including the cities of Devils Lake, Williston, Minot, Bismarck, Stanton, and Dickinson. There were 260 different dance performances. All of the routines were different with many different costumes, music styles and choreography. It was an exciting and entertaining weekend for everyone. All of the routines from Miki’s qualified to advance to the National Celebration Competition.
The Judges were nationally qualified professional dancers and instructors in the dance education and performance field. They were: Melissa McDaniel from North Carolina, Larry Piscitelli (New York), and Heather Sandberg (Michigan).
There were four large gold cups awarded for Outstanding Group Performances. Miki’s earned two of the four Gold Cups. These were called the Super Star Trophies.
Miki’s Junior /Senior Team was awarded a large gold cup, teen overall small group, High Gold, and the “Show Stopper” Award, for the tap routine “Five Guys Named Moe” (choreographed by Kinsey Malarkey). The dancers were Becca Dahl, Sadie Hefta, Mallory Kuntz, Beth MacDonald, and Lauren Sampson.
The second Gold Cup was awarded to a Teeney Bopper Small Group for their Broadway style performance of “Coffee In A Cardboard Cup”. In the Junior Division “Coffee” received: Super Star Award, 1st place small group, High Gold, and the Choreography Award. “Coffee” was choreographed by Miki and Brittany Noltimier. The dancers were Parker Hanson, Anna Janssen, Paige Larson, and Kayla Sobolik.
Miki’s Dancers also claimed two top solo awards. Anna Janssen was the High scoring soloist of the Junior Division. Anna Janssen received
1st place overall Jr Solo, Dancer of the Year, Signature Jacket, High Gold trophy and a category winner for her tap solo “Rugcutter” (choreographed by Miki Noltimier).
Paige Larson claimed third place high score solo with her Broadway style routine “I Don’t Want to Show Off”(choreg by Miki). Paige earned a High Gold Trophy and was the category winner of her Division.
“Fuego” a tap trio (Becca Dahl, Mallory Kuntz, and Lauren Sampson won the High Score Overall duo trio, and received a Gold, Performance Award.
“It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing” earned a High Gold Trophy. (Neslie Christofferson, Becca Dahl, Sadie Hefta , Mallory Kuntz, Beth MacDonald, Paige Mikkelson, Arieanna Nelson, Ellie Rutten, Lauren Sampson)

The Small Fry and Bizzy Dizzy Dancers from Miki’s attended their first team competition of the season. They earned several Overall High Score Trophies. Gabby Hanson was awarded a 2nd Place High Score Overall in the Petite Division with her solo “Jazz Baby”. Gabby also received a High Gold and the Petite Costume Award.
“Let’s Live It Up” received a 2nd place overall Duo/Trio Award and a Gold Trophy in the Petite Division. The performers were Erin Clementich and Abbey Dahl.
“Ma Maison” (Broadway Routine) earned a 2nd Place Overall Small Group award and a Gold Trophy. The Small Fry dancers were: Cassandra Christensen, Haley Duncan, Sam Enget, Gabby Hanson, Catherine Janssen, Hannah Ripplinger, Isabelle Thompson and Brooke Wayman,
The Small Fry and the Bizzy Dizzy Team earned a 2nd place overall in the large group division for their tap dance “Yankee Doodle.” The Dancers were: Makenna Baeth, Cassandra Christensen, Erin Clementich, Abbey Dahl, Haley Duncan, Sam Enget, Gabby Hanson, Emma Hoover, Catherine Janssen, Weslie Langton, Hannah Ripplinger, Isabelle Thompson, Brooke Wayman.
