Last week, those who have achieved highest honors during their high school career were recognized at Devils Lake High School.

Along with that recognition came the scholarships, honors and appointments that accompany those honors.

Ryan Hanson presented the NDIAAA/ND Farmers Union Insurance award to Hallie Fritel and North Dakota Academic All-State to Hallie Fritel, Caroline Belleque and Casia Steinhaus.

Derek Gateman announced the Outstanding Mathematics Student, Hallie Fritel.

Tyler Marquart presented the Constitution Awards to Madyn Parker and Cadence Jenssen and the Outstanding Social Studies Student award to Madyn Parker.

Jerad Lehmann presented the Outstanding Science Student award to Jesse McKay.

Lisa Holding presented the award to the Outstanding Language Arts Student, Cadence Jenssen.

Mr. Victor Ames announced the Military Service Academy Appointment to West Point, Brendan Connor.

Students of the year at LACTC

Christa Brodina listed the Lake Area Career and Technology Students of the Year:

For the Alternative High School, Pauline Hoffman was honored. Automotive Technology recognized Peyton Daniels and Victor Matheny. Business Technology’s student of the year was Rachel Willey. For Child and Family Services Kaden Wass was selected as student of the year.

In Construction Technology Carson Hanson was recognized as student of the year. Aissa Robbins, Annika McCarthy were named student of the year for Culinary Arts.

Keelie McCloud, Hallie Fritel were named students of the year in Health Careers. And Information Technology selected Simon Beach.

The Devils Lake Youth Activities scholarship went to Simon Beach and Cadence Jenssen.

DLPS Development Fund Scholarship went to Cecelia Hinton.

The Dean Hildebrand Memorial conservation scholarship went to Malcolm Stubbe.

The Morris & Christine Barks Academic scholarship went to Cadence Jenssen.

United Parcel Service scholarship to Alexis Armey.

Amanda Ebensteiner scholarship to Alissa Robbins.

Kristin Johnson presented the Morgan Johnson Scholarship to Gage Meyer.

The NDTC Scholarship of $750 went to Hallie Fritel and Cassia Steinhaus.

Amber Lambrecht presented the #BeMoreLikeDrew Scholarship to Payton Johnston.

The Mertens Family scholarship and Marcee Mertens Education Scholarship were presented to Cadence Jenssen.

Ron & Marilee Hosman scholarship and the Roger G. Pershke Jr., Scholarship went to Peyton Daniels.

Jean Baird presented the Jean and James Baird Family Scholarship to Sam Enget and Libby Adams.

Both the Betty Younggren and Robert Moore Scholarships were awarded to Simon Schlenker.

The Lars Family scholarship and the Aimee Larson Scholarship went to Shayla Davis.

Logan Kraft presented the SADD Scholarship to Shayla Davis.

Scott Klett & Eric Nygaard presented the following scholarships: The North Dakota State College of Science Foundation Scholarships went to Alexis Buchli. The P.E.O. Star Scholarship was awarded to Kayla British. The Kiwanis District Educational Foundation Scholarship also went to Kayla British.The Northern State University Scholarship was awarded to Simon Schlenker. Both the Steiner Family Scholarship and the Lockhead Martin STEM scholarship went to Casia Steinhaus.

Lara Prozinski presented the DLHS Honor Society Scholarship to Madyn Parker.

Honor Society Scholarship

Each year the Honor Society officers choose how many and the amount of money to offer as scholarships. This year one scholarship of $500 was chosen. Only members of Honor Society may apply. The committee made up of department chairs, administration and counselors chose a candidate based upon scholarship, leadership, character and volunteerism. This year’s recipient is Madyn Parker.
