Franklin John, son of Joyce Tomahawk-Peltier and Kenneth SpottedBird Sr. was born on March 5, 1972 at Devils Lake, N.D.  He lived his younger years in Brockton, Mont., graduating from the 8th grade there.  The family moved to the Fort Totten area and Franklin attended school at Four Winds High School.  He played basketball in school and he continued to play the game into adulthood.  If he wasn’t playing the game himself, he enjoyed watching others play. Franklin worked at DTI (Dakota Tribal Industries) and at the Snack Bar at the Spirit Lake Casino until health problems forced him to retire.  Franklin loved driving around the countryside and stopping in to visit with family and friends.  Being with his son was such a special time for him.
Franklin is survived by his mother, Joyce Peltier; brothers, Vernon SpottedBird Sr., Kenneth SpottedBird and Kevin SpottedBird; sisters, Tara SpottedBird, Kenda SpottedBird and Janel SpottedBird; special friend, Rhonda Greywater; son, Eric John Martin; daughter, Diane Peoples; adopted brothers, Robbie Greywater, Perry Fassett Sr. and Mark Fassett Sr.; adopted sister, Janelle Fassett; aunties, Tammy Allery and Lorraine Michael; uncles, Frank Tomahawk Jr. and John Sherman; grandmothers, Stella Cavanaugh, Doris SpottedBird, Catherine SpottedBird and Victoria Joshua; grandpas, Leland SpottedBird, Josie Lawrence and Solomon Sherman; godparents, Myrna DeMarce and the late Sylvester DeMarce.
