  • Loren Leon Lundy, 75, of Devils Lake, N.D., formerly of Bottineau, N.D. passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake.

  • Loren Leon Lundy, 75, of Devils Lake, N.D., formerly of Bottineau, N.D. passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake.
    Private funeral services for Loren were held at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be in the spring at Oak Creek Cemetery, Bottineau. Officiating at the service was the Reverend Glenn Berge. Special music was provided.
    Casket bearers were Virgil Foss, Mark Pedie, Michael Lundy and Jordan Lundy. Honorary bearers were all employees at Heartland Care Center. Military Honors were provided by the Bottineau County Veterans and the North Dakota National Guard.
    Loren Leon Lundy, son of Joseph and Edna (Bucholz) Lundy, was born on December 29, 1937 at Carbury. He was reared and educated in the area, graduating from Bottineau High school. On August 2, 1958 he entered the US Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on August 2, 1962. He returned to the Bottineau area. Loren was married for a time. He helped his father with some house moving for a time. Loren began working at the Shriner's Clothing Store later purchasing the store and turning it into the Lundy's Department Store. He retired in his early 40's. Loren moved to Devils Lake about 5 years ago because of his poor health. He entered the Heartland Care Center where he has resided since.
    He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, fishing and gardening.
    He is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Stan) Powell of Cadiz, KY; sons, Joel (Angie) Lundy and David (Michelle) Lundy both of Devils Lake; grandchildren, Derrick Powell, Amanda Powell, Michael Lundy, Jordan Lundy and Chelsea Bergen; great-grandchildren Illias Bingham and Brayden Bingham; brother, Allen Lundy of Bottineau.
    Loren was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joe and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Lundy.
