  • NDSU Track and Field: Orgon, Brost earn weekly outdoor track and field awards

  • North Dakota State’s Casey Orgon and South Dakota’s Cody Snyder were named The Summit League’s Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, while North Dakota State’s Leslie Brost and South Dakota State’s Brook Garner were named the Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their performances April 2-8.

  • ELMHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State’s Casey Orgon and South Dakota’s Cody Snyder were named The Summit League’s Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, while North Dakota State’s Leslie Brost and South Dakota State’s Brook Garner were named the Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their performances April 2-8.
    MEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK         
    •Casey Orgon, North Dakota State
    Sr. // Bemidji, Minn.
    Orgon collects Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season and of his career after setting the school record in the hammer throw at back-to-back meets in the same day.  The senior finished fourth at the Sun Angel Classic with a throw of 201'11" (61.55m) breaking the previous school record by more than four feet.  He then went onto win the hammer throw at the Mesa Classic with a mark of 203'4" (61.99m) breaking his own record set at the previous meet.  Orgon's mark leads the league and ranks 26th in the nation.
    •Cody Snyder, South Dakota
    Jr. // Lake Andes, S.D.
    Snyder captures his second career Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award and first of the season after winning two events at The Duals to help South Dakota defeat South Dakota State and North Dakota.  The Lake Andes, S.D, native won the discus with a mark of 184'6" (56.25m), which leads the league by over 23 feet and ranks 24th in the nation.  Snyder also took first in the shot put with a throw of 56'7.25 (17.25m).

    WOMEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
    •Leslie Brost, North Dakota State
    Sr. // Watertown, S.D.
    Brost claims the Outdoor Track and Field award for the sixth time in her career and second time this season after finishing ahead of three other vaulters ranked in TFRRS top-15 in the nation, including two athletes that are ranked higher than her.  The senior placed third at the Sun Angel Classic clearing 13'9.75" (4.21m), which ranks second in the league and ties for 12th in the nation.  She finished ahead of vaulters from three nationally-ranked teams in No. 1 Kansas, No. 8 Arizona State and No. 16 Illinois.
    •Brooke Garner, South Dakota State
    Sr. // Rapid City, S.D.
    Garner earns her third career Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor and her first this season after winning the hammer throw and discus at The Duals with marks ranked in nation's top-30.  The Rapid City, S.D., native won the hammer throw with a league-best and school-record throw of 198'11" (60.62m), ranking 16th in the nation.  She also took first in the discus with a mark of 170'5" (51.94m), which is tops in the league and ranks 28th in the nation.
