  • LACTC students qualify to attend national conference.
    The North Dakota state DECA conference was held in the Ramkota in Bismarck March 9-11. Six of the eight members from the Lake Region who attended the conference qualified for the opportunity to attend the National DECA conference held in Anaheim, California April 24-27.
    Austan Wellman and Spencer Halvorson were state champions in the Hospitality Services Team Decision Making event. Beth MacDonald placed fourth in the Professional Selling event and Hope Gutschmidt placed fifth. Gutschmidt also placed fifth in Human Resource Management event. Brandon Tofte placed sixth in Retail Merchandising event and Blake Buchmeier placed sixth in Marketing Management event, Buchmeier also won a medal for winning one of his role plays. Wellman Wellman and Halvorson participated in the Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling event. MacDonald participated in Business Services event. Tucker Tronson participated in Hotel and Lodging Management event. Nathan Mertens participated in Quick Serve Restaurant Management and also was LACTC’s new member of the year award winner.  
    Gutschmidt ran for a State DECA officer spot and although she had a good speech and nice campaign booth, she just missed out on winning the election.
