Mark A. Lillehaugen, 64, of Grand Forks, N.D., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 26, 2013 on the Surgical Critical Care Unit of Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m. at Sarnia United Lutheran Church, Whitman, N.D. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral service in the church on Saturday. Interment will be in West Forest Cemetery, Whitman, at a later date.
Mark Arnold Lillehaugen was born August 12, 1948, the son of Arnold and Lorayne (Keck) Lillehaugen of Brocket, N.D. Mark grew up near Whitman, N.D. and graduated from Michigan High School in 1966. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science and graduated from North Dakota State University with an Agriculture Economics Major. Mark married Margaret Ann O’Leary on December 23, 1988 and together raised their son Eric in Grand Forks. Mark will be fondly remembered for his wonderful dry sense of humor, easy-going nature and caring heart. He was a kind, gentle man, loving son, husband, father and brother, an award winning dart player and an O.K. golfer. He will be so deeply, incredibly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peg” O’Leary; son, Eric (Shelby Cochran), Fargo, N.D.; mother, Lorayne Lillehaugen, Grand Forks; sisters, Meredith (Robert) Lins, Cambridge, Wisc., Paige Lillehaugen (David Frueauf), Beaverton, Ore; sister-in-law, Nancy O’Leary, Billings, Mont.; nieces, Heather Washburn (Jason Logue), Vancouver, Wash., Mary Agnes O’Leary, Billings; nephews, Brett (Nelia) Washburn, Alpharetta, Ga., Mickley O’Leary , Billings, and great-niece and nephews, Ariel Washburn, Drew Washburn and Zander Logue.
He was preceded in death by his father, C. Arnold Lillehaugen; maternal grandparents, Erick and Anna Keck and paternal grandparents, Michael T. and Marie Lillehaugen.
