"Ye Olde Head Razzberry"
John J. B. Wilson, copywriter and publicist, had potluck dinners at his home during the Academy Awards. Following the awards on March 31, 1981, he gave his guests a ballot and asked them to vote for the Worst Picture. Then, in a tacky tux, in front of a cardboard podium, with a fake microphone, Wilson announced the first Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Picture.
The awards have become an annual event and Wilson is known as "Ye Olde Head Razzberry."
