Dorothy Jean Keitzman was born November 6, 1927 in Lakota to Bernice Schaible and Byron Keitzman. In 1932, Dorothy moved to the farm south of Lakota with her parents.  In 1942, she was forced to quit school and help on the farm due to the war.  She finished school by correspondence.  Dorothy was married in 1957 and lived in New Jersey and New York for a year and a half before moving back to Lakota. She then moved to Devils Lake, N.D. where she was a nurses aide in labor and delivery for 15 years.  She then moved to Grand Forks, N.D. and worked as a nurses aide for 13 years at St. Mikes.
Dorothy then moved to Barnesville, Minn. where she worked as a cook until 1975, when she moved back to the farm near Lakota. She had been living at the farm ever since.  Dorothy loved being outdoors.  She always looked forward to planting her two acre garden full of tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and many other vegetables. She also loved hunting and fishing.  It was about two years ago that she became unable to do these things.
She was preceded in death by her fishing buddies: Merle Rainsberry and Jeff Cook.
