  • The Minot State University Division of Music presents the MSU Concert Choir and Women’s Chorus in a  Winter Tour Concert on, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake.  The public is invited and there will be no charge for admission.
    The Minot State University Concert Choir and Women’s Chorus will present this concert as part of a short concert tour across North Dakota.
    The presentation will feature a variety of choral works form the traditional to contemporary literature and is intended for all audiences.
    The MSU student ensembles are comprised of singers from all areas of the campus. Participating students are selected by audition and meet throughout the year for rehearsals and performances both on and off of the MSU campus. The Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Bowles, sustains a long tradition of performances that reaches back through its 100 year history. For this tour, the Women’s Chorus, under the direction of Ms. Cherie Collins, will join the performances.
    Featured on the evening’s concert will be from many periods and styles. Monteverdi’s “Hear the Murmuring Waters,” Debussy’s “Trois Chansons D’Orlean” and the Peter Louis van Dijk’s “Horizons” will feature the unaccompanied singing by the choir. Robert Schumann’s “Zigeunerleben” will feature pianist, Dr. DeVera Bowles. The Women’s Chorus, under the direction of Cherie Collins, will perform contemporary composer Dan Forrest’s “Psalm 8”, which features violinist, Kate Dalbey. They will also sing the beautiful setting of “Ave Maria” by Guy Forbes. These, among other selections, offer a wide range of musical styles.
    This concert is part of a concert tour which will include Beulah, Harvey, Jamestown, Devils Lake and conclude in Winnipeg, MB.
