The Lake Region State College Royals’ 2012-13 basketball season came to an abrupt end on Wednesday evening with a 74-69 setback to the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats in the Region XIII semifinals in Wahpeton.

The Lake Region State College Royals’ 2012-13 basketball season came to an abrupt end on Wednesday evening with a 74-69 setback to the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats in the Region XIII semifinals in Wahpeton.

With the loss, LRSC finished its season with a 19-11 record. NDSCS, which defeated the Royals in the final regular season game on Sunday, improved to 26-5.

The Royals held their own throughout the contest. Jay Sewer and Gage Deis helped the LRSC men fight their way to a 24-22 lead early in the first half.

NDSCS, the reigning Mon-Dak Athletic Conference champion, rallied, however.

The Wildcats used a big run in the second half to grab a 67-62 lead with 2:41 left.
