  • By Ray Maloney Journal Sports Editor While scoring is often considered to be the thing to do in basketball, Jay Sewer discovered plenty of other ways to leave a mark on the opposition. Sewer, a freshman, came to life in the second half and helped spark Lake Region State College to a come-from-behind victory over Bismarck State College on Monday at the Devils Lake Sports Center. Sewer scored 14 points, 10 of which came in the second half, as LRSC emerged with a 94-91 win over the Mystics. “He doesn’t have to be scoring a lot of points ... and he learned that tonight,” said LRSC coach Curt Herman. “He did a tremendous job of getting a lot of people involved in the game.” Sewer also tallied a game-high nine assists and grabbed eight rebounds in the key Mon-Dak Conference victory for the Royals. A pair of free throws from Darnell Landon with 37.2 seconds left in the game put LRSC in front to stay at 92-91. It was the two points of the night from Landon. Melvin Langstaff added two more free throws with 21.7 seconds remaining to virtually seal the win for the Royals. The Royals were paced in scoring by Gage Deis’ 24 points while D.K. Augustine and Langstaff scored 23 and 22, respectively, for Lake Region, which trailed 51-44 at halftime. Malik Wood led the Mystics with 27 points while J.R.
