  • Amit Peled, acclaimed as “one of the most exciting instrumentalists on the concert stage today,” comes to Devils Lake on Saturday, February 2 at the Robert Fawcett Auditorium, Lake Region State College. The perfromance begins at 7:30 p.m. This is the second of four fabulous community concerts arranged by the Devils Lake Region Concert Association as part of the 2012-13 concert series. Israeli cellist Amit Peled is a musician of profound artistry and charismatic stage presence who has performed in the world’s major concert halls, such as: Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York, Salle Gaveau, Paris, Wigmore Hall, London, Konzerthaus, Berlin and Tel Aviv’s Mann Auditorium. Peled is also a frequent guest artist at summer music festivals such as the Marlboro Music Festival, Newport Music Festival, Heifetz International Music Institute, Schleswig Holstein Festival in Germany, Gotland Festival in Sweden, the Violoncello Congress in Spain and the Kfar Blum Music Festival in Israel. Amit Peled has been featured on television and radio throughout the world, including NPR’s “Performance Today,” WGBH Boston, WQXR New York, Deutschland Radio Berlin and Radio France. He has recently released two critically acclaimed CDs: “The Jewish Soul” and “Cellobration” under Centaur Records Label. Peled is a professor at the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University and plays a rare Andrea Guarneri cello ca. 1689. Whatever the venue, whatever the mood, for audiences from eight to eighty years old, Amit Peled provides the perfect night out. All concerts are open to the public. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. The season ticket price for the remaining three concerts is $40 for adults. Student season tickets are only $15 for all three remaining concerts. As a bonus, ticket holders also receive free entrance to five additional concerts in Rugby as part of the “Heart of America” concert series. That’s only $5 per concert!
