Danny L. Gailfus of Warwick has been promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 by the U.S. Army. The ceremony was held recently at the 8th Army Headquarters in Yongsan, South Korea. Those in attendance included his wife Akiko, son Conner, daughter Julia, friends and co-workers from the Yongsan and surrounding military communities. Gailfus had his new rank pinned on by his 12-year old son Conner and 10-year old daughter Julia. Gailfus joined the Army in 1994 and is currently serving with 8th Army G4 in Yongsan. Prior to joining the Army, Gailfus served two years with the North Dakota Air National Guard and four years with the U.S. Marine Corps and was deployed to Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He has since been deployed once to Afghanistan and twice to Iraq with the Army in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Gailfus has spent the majority of his past 25 plus years in the military serving overseas in such places as Hawaii, Japan, Germany and now South Korea. His stateside assignments have all been with the famed 101st Airborne Division (AASLT)at Ft. Campbell, Ky. He is a 1982 graduate of Warwick High School and is the son of Linda and Gary Elfman of Warwick and Robert and Naomi Gailfus of Larimore.
