The Devils Lake School Board was treated to a field trip of their own Monday evening as Ryan Hanson brought them out of their meeting room and to two classrooms within the building to get a first-hand look at two successful programs at DLHS.
First stop was the Freshman Enrichment classroom and a visit with instructor Derryn Johnson. He told the board about the resources and curriculum he uses to help students enhance their reading and comprehension skills.
The second stop was in Brad Hintz’s classroom where he teaches “Project: Lead the Way” an introduction to engineering. Hintz showed the board the many projects the students had been working on and stumped a school board member with a wooden puzzle the students had engineered.
At each school board meeting a different member of the district staff has presented a Building/Program Report, this was Hanson’s DLHS report.
Coming Wednesday in the Devils Lake Journal - the DLPS employees of the quarter.
