  • Since Oct. 2010, investigators had few leads into the shocking and mysterious double murder that killed William Van Note and his companion Sharon Dickson at their Sunrise Beach home.
In Sept. 2012, the case blew wide open when Camden County Prosecuting Attorney Brian Keedy charged Van Note's daughter, Susan Elizabeth "Liz" Van Note with her father's unsolved murder in a grand jury indictment out of Boone County.
In a storyline not unlike something out of Dateline, Keedy alleged Van Note shot her father that fateful day in Oct. 2010 to gain control of his robust estate, then, with the help of friends Desre and Stacy Dory, forged a power of attorney document to remove the elder Van Note from life support in Boone County.
Van Note's bond was set at $1 million cash, and, shockingly, she posted the cash on Oct. 4 and walked free from the Camden County jail.
A judge removed Van Note from her father's estate. Van Note and the Dorys faced a pre-trial hearing Dec. 3 with a trial expected to begin before the new year, but the case has been pushed back until Nov. 2013 as prosecutors and defense attorneys gather more evidence for their case.
