By Ray Maloney Journal Sports Editor CANDO, N.D. — Top-ranked North Star placed four players in double figures as the Bearcats rolled past visiting Valley-Edinburg 79-35 on Tuesday in Cando. Daniel Grande and Jacob Hagler combined for more than half of North Star’s scoring output as Grande poured in 22 points and Hagler added 18 on the night. Brooks Larson (13) and Alex Weston (12) also reached double figures to the Bearcats who improved to 5-0 in the season with the victory. Valley-Edinburg was paced by Syris Jenson’s 15 points. North Star will play Beulah on Friday in Cando in a rematch of last year’s state championship game that saw the Miners edge past the defending champion Bearcats to claim the first-ever state championship for Beulah. North Star will also play on Saturday at Rugby.
