Ernest Brandvold, 72, of Redding, Calif., died Monday, December 10, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Ernest was born October 13, 1940 in Maddock, N.D. to Theodore and Pearl (Georgeson) Brandvold. Ernest grew up in Maddock where he enjoyed playing basketball and hunting. He also worked for the area farmers.
Ernest married Barbara Anderson on June 18, 1960, and they had four children. They lived in Devils Lake, Minot, N.D., and California during their marriage. Ernest continued to live in California and later married Nancy Harrison and they had one son. Ernest owned and operated two restaurants for many years. Ernest later married Nancy VanCromphaut with whom he spent the remainder of his life. Before Ernest retired he owned Ernie’s Economy Auto Glass in Redding. After retirement, Ernest traveled back to North Dakota to visit family and friends. Ernest enjoyed spending time watching the ducks swim in the pond that he and Nancy had in their back yard.
Ernest is survived by wife, Nancy of Redding; children, Kay (Scott) Bachmeier, Devils Lake; Cheryl (Tim) Miller, Hillsboro, N.D.; Renae (Kevin) Yali, Crary, N.D.; Duane (Heather) Brandvold, Devils Lake; JR (Jackie) Brandvold, Redding; step-children, Christine Howard and Carl Anberg, Redding; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Emil, Allen and Glenn; sisters, Bernice and LaVon.
