CANDO, N.D. — North Star grabbed its first win of the young season as the Bearcats placed three players in double figures and rolled to a 64-38 win over visiting New Rockford-Sheyenne on Monday.
Sarah Hagler led all scorers with 16 points in the game for North Star, which improved to 1-1 on the season. Teammates Kelsey Teubner and Jessica each added 11 points in the winning effort.
Nine different players broke into the scoring column for the Bearcats.
North Star was never seriously challenged. The Bearcats opened the game on an 18-6 run during the first eight minutes of play and led 34-17 at the intermission.
Lacey Grann and Lexi Weber were the only two Rockets to finish in double figures in scoring. Grann led the way with 11 points and Weber tallied 10 points in the contest.
North Star is scheduled to play Thursday at Drayton-Valley-Edinburg. New Rockford-Sheyenne, meanwhile, will take part in the annual Central North Dakota Conference tournament which begins Thursday and runs through Saturday.
