Linda Carol Fox “Mato Isnana Win” (Lone Bear Woman)
Our loving mother, sister, and aunt left to be with the Lord on Friday, December 14, 2012. Linda passed away at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, N.D., at the age of 51.
Wake services will begin on Tuesday, December 18, at 5 p.m. at the Fort Totten Recreation Center. The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday from Wal-Mart. Funeral services will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center on Wednesday, December 19 at 11 a.m., with Pastor June Lockwood officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery, rural Fort Totten.
Pallbearers are Leonard Fox, Jr. Azure, Tyrell Alberts, Fred Longie Jr., Micheal McDonald, Nevada Goodbird, Teddy Fox, Roger Alberts, Cody Spider. Linda was born July 11, 1961 to Laidman Sr. and Winona (Alberts) Fox. She attended elementary school in Fort Totten and graduated in 1979 from Fort Totten High School. She later attended South West Poly-Tech Institute, Albuquerque, N.M., and Central Bible College in Mobridge, S.D. Linda also attended United Tribes Technical College, Bismarck, N.D., and later was employed there for many years.
Linda enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church and always encouraged her children to attend and be involved in the church. Linda would host youth Bible studies in her home, and traveled to many Church Revivals throughout Indian Country, where her children ministered through human videos. She liked listening to George Straight, going to pow-wows, and rummaging.
Linda is survived by her children and grandchildren; Joe (Sam) Fox (Waniya, Spear, Joe Jr), Holly (Daniel) Fox (Daniel Jr.), John (Erin) Strait (Nevaeh, Justin, Victoria, Jasmiria, Karley), Molly (Mike) Strait (Malachi, Max), Michelle Cooley, Michael (Barbara) Cooley, Micah Cooley, and Isaiah Stricker; her mother, Winona Fox; sisters and their families, Lenore Whitelightning, Lavonne Alberts, Leanne Fox, LaDonna Fox; brothers and their families, Laidman Fox Jr., Leonard Fox, and Lee Fox; uncles and aunties and their families, Buddy Alberts, Marie Martin, Sally Cavanaugh, Virginia Lancelotta, Dolly Azure; grandparents and their families, Virginia Foote and Mary Hill; adopted brothers and sisters and their families, Karen LongElk, Tonya Fox, Birdie Fox, Susie Fox, Ila RedOwl, Roberta Ramsey, Pauline Boxer, Loretta Hall, Penny Knudson, Wanda Johnson, Doreen Yellowbird, Joe Lafferty, Reba Mack, Marcella Knutson, Dacia Dauphanias, Al Demery, Willie Bronchaue, Jay Greene, Noah Horse, Swen Baker, Todd LeBeau, Tim Topponhoffer, Jasper YoungBear, TJ Plentychief, Russell McDonald, Leola White, Alvina Thompson; adopted aunts and uncles, Sheila Thompson, Myra Pearson, Bob Graywater, Calvin Campbell, Don Belgarde Sr., Cletus Lawrence, Peter Belgarde, Sr, and Frank Lovejoy; many, many cousins and other relatives.
