Wendlen Vetter, 81, of Devils Lake, N.D, formerly of Esmond, N.D., died, Friday, November 30, 2012, at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake.
Wendlen Vetter, 81, of Devils Lake, N.D, formerly of Esmond, N.D., died, Friday, November 30, 2012, at Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake. No services will be held at this time. Interment will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery at Esmond, N.D. in the spring. Wendlen was born July 15, 1931 to Rochus and Catherine Vetter at Selz, N.D. Wendy graduated in 1952 from the Benson County Agricultural and Training School at Maddock, N.D. He was drafted into the US Army in 1953, serving in Germany where he operated heavy equipment, building football fields and gyms for schools near the army base. Wendy spent most of his adult life living in Devils Lake and worked for a number of companies over the years, retiring from Border States Paving. He was married for a time to Agnes Bjerke. Wendy spoke and understood the German language. He was a proud member of the US Coast Guard of Devils Lake and was a life member of the Neathery-Simensen VFW Post 756 of Devils Lake. He is survived by two sons, Waun (special friend, Debbie Peltier) Vetter of Crookston, Minn. and Wade Vetter of Devils Lake; two brothers, Herman (Sharon) Vetter of Grand Forks, N.D and Ronnie (Judi) Vetter of Harvey, N.D.; a sister, Bernese Larson of Gillette, Wyo. and a sister-in-law, Verna Vetter of Cando, N.D. Wendy was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Isadore Vetter and a brother-in-law, Elgin Larson.
