Busy day short blog. The Kansas City Chiefs continued their effort to drive me insane on Monday evening by losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime. Don’t blame the quarterback, he never should have been put in the position he was in because the game should have never gone into overtime. The Chiefs had not one but two touchdowns wiped off the board because of stupid penalties and then missed an easy field goal. The Steelers did not play well at all and tried desperately to help the Chiefs win but they were having none of it. This is just another sad chapter in what has become a terrible season for the Chiefs.
The Missouri Tigers looked like they were on life support in the first half of last night’s basketball game against Alcorn State before turning it up in the second half and coming away with the easy victory. Last year the Tigers seemed to start fast and then struggle in the second half, this year they apparently have decided to try the other way and I must say I like this way much better.
The Truman State men’s basketball team has another home game this evening agains Upper Iowa. How come they never play Lower Iowa? Is there a Lower Iowa? Anyway, the Bulldogs will be looking to notch their first win of the season after last Friday’s tough loss.
The Truman State volleyball team suffered a tough loss against an Emporia State team who came in looking for revenge and unfortunately got it. Truman State must now wait until Sunday to see if they make the NCAA Division II tournament. Regardless of whether they make the tournament or not it has been a great year and they should be proud of their accomplishments.
Jeff Gordon was fined $100,000 for intentionally causing Clint Bowyer to crahs last Sunday. He was not suspended from driving in this Sunday’s final race but did lose 25 points, (he had no chance of winning the season title anyway) and apparently that’s enough punishment. Thank goodness he didn’t try to shot Bowyer, he might have been fined $125,000 instead.
Finally: The Los Angeles Lakers met with Phil Jackson over the weekend to discuss his returning to coach the team for a third time. Jackson apparently asked for the weekend to make up his mind, the Lakers agreed to it and then hired another coach less than twenty-four hours later. Apparently the Lakers and the rest of the world have differing opinions on what constitutes a weekend. They can’t be patient when hiring a new coach but they continue to employ Meta World Peace. In a related story I would like to wish the Oklahoma City Thunder good luck in winning the NBA Western Conference title.
We’ll be back on Friday with a look ahead to this weekend’s sports action and whatever else I can dig up. Please continue to check out the other blogs on this site and thanks as always for continuing to support this one.
Have a terrific week!
