  • Marvin B. Walter Sr., 88, lifelong farmer from Warwick, N.D., died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille, N.D. Marvin's funeral service will be held at the Warwick Lutheran Church on Friday, October 26 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Warwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Marvin Benjamin Walter was born August 10, 1924 at Chaseley, N.D., the son of Cleo and Florence (Rask) Walter. He was educated at Chaseley and Emerick before moving with his family to Warwick. He joined the U.S. Army on November 14, 1944 and served on the Philippine islands of Leyte, Mindanao, and Sabu, and the last year of his service was spent in occupied Japan. He was honorably discharged on November 14, 1946 and returned to Warwick. Marvin married Elaine Stubson Johnson December 15, 1947 and they started farming the Iver Johnson farm. They raised their 10 children and farmed their whole life together. Marvin enjoyed playing cards, hunting, and fishing with his friends. He moved to the care center in June of 2001. Marvin is survived by four daughters, Margie (Daryl) Haas of Fertile, Minn., Nan Forest of Tolna, N.D., Gail (Ken) Yuly of Minot, N.D., and Cleus Walter of Warwick; four sons, Marvin Jr. (Linda) of Warwick, Rick of Devils Lake, N.D., Terry (Sharon) of Hamar, N.D., and Darrel (Dori) of Warwick; a brother, Lyle (Sharon) Walter of Warwick; a special nephew, Les (Yelena) Walter of Plymouth, Minn.; 16 grandchildren, Derek, Darren, Jason, and LaRae Haas, Ben and Luke Walter, Bill and Nicole Forest, Ricky Walter Jr., Josh, Joel, Ryan and Aaron Walter, Danielle and Nicholas Walter, and Garret Moxness; and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; two sons, Tracy and Roger; and an infant brother, Raymond. Online guestbook is available at www.iversonkassianfuneralservices.com.
