KEARNEY, Neb. - Truman State junior wide receiver had 11 catches for 178 yards and a touchdown to lead Truman State’s football team to a 16-7 win over the University of Nebraska-Kearney Saturday.
The Bulldogs (4-2, 3-2 Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association) put the game away the Lopers (0-6, 0-6) with two Conrad Schottel touchdown passes before halftime.
Schottel found Brett Nagel on a 12-yard strike with 6:10 remaining in the half and and Grier for a 20-yard catch nearly three minutes later.
Class 1, District 8 tournament: MARSHALL, Mo. - Kirksville’s Kinsey Helton won her second consecutive district title (see Page 8) for the Lady Tigers Saturday. Ashley Lyon finished in third in singles and the duo of Taylor Smith and Aviel Kaschube finished fourth in doubles for Kirksville.
Quincy Tournament: QUINCY, Ill. - Kirksville (11-13) finished 0-3 in the tournament. The Lady Tigers lost to Metamora (Ill.), Quincy (Ill.) and to Lewistown (Ill.).
Brett Marek had 38 digs for Kirksville. Ashton Vorkink had 46 digs. Michaella Peck had 21 assists and Nichole Cook finished with 10 kills, six blocks and 35 digs.
