Katherine Voeller, 94, of Rugby, N.D., died Friday, September 21 at the Heart of America Care Center in Rugby.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 25 at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday with Rosary and vigil services starting at at 7 p.m and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. all at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby. There will be no reviewal in the church.
Casket bearers are Curt Voeller, Tim Voeller, Shawn Voeller, Jeff Voeller, Scott Voeller and Kyle Voeller. Honorary bearers are all grandchildren and great grandchildren. Organist will be Angie Deplazes with vocalist/cantor, Kathy Voeller.
Katherine (Bischoff) Voeller, the daughter of Nickolas and Elizabeth (Schwan) Bischoff was born on December 11, 1917 in McHenry County near Berwick, N.D. She was raised in the home of her parents on the family farm and received her education at a rural school near her home. On November 15, 1937 she was united in marriage to Nat Voeller at St. Anselms Catholic Church at Fulda, N.D. Katherine and Nat made their home near the church where the couple built and operated their family farm. In the early years, Katherine was involved in the many of the farms chores and in later years, the growing and preserving of food for the family along with the many daily activities of a farm wife raising seven children. She loved cooking and always enjoyed company and entertaining. In 1972, Katherine and Nat retired and moved into Rugby. There Katherine’s passion for quilting began. Nat died July 14, 1983.
Katherine was a member of St. Anselms Catholic Church at Fulda for many years where she was active in the Catholic Order of Foresters and Christian Mothers, and a current member of Little Flower Catholic Church and was active in numerous organizations.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Betty), Rugby; Gladys Voeller, Brainerd, Minn.; Rolland (Birgit), Breezy Point, Minn.; Raymond (Judy), Des Moines, Wash.; Lloyd (Mary), Rugby; LeRoy (Lori), Devils Lake; daughter-in-law, Donna Voeller, Fargo; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Theresa Halvorson, Bismarck; and Helen Volk, Fargo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nat; an infant daughter; a son, Robert; sisters, Pauline Klause and Lena Kuntz; brothers, Pete, Jack and Vincent Bischoff; and her parents.
