  • A flat bed piled high with railroad ties, hay and tubular straw bales used to inhibit erosion caught fire in the city at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday near Sears and Taco Johns on the Highway 2 corridor.
Bundles of the bales in the back were not burnt, however the hay piled atop the ties did burn and charred the ties, as well.
According to the Devils Lake firefighters seen here combing through the remains to make sure the fire is out, they are unsure about how the fire started.
