  • The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences -Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® Awards Nominations were recently released and  the PBS Documentary “Mother Nature in Charge: Devils Lake Life Stories has been nominated for a 2012 Upper Midwest Emmy Award.
The documentary was a project between Prairie Public Broadcasting of Fargo, ND and the Devils Lake Basin Joint Water Resource Board with funding support from local government, business and private individuals. The documentary “Mother Nature in Charge: Devils Lake Life Stories” is the first part of a two part series with part two to be released in early December.
Jeff Frith, manager of the Devils Lake Basin Joint Water Resource Board, said “some of the reasons that the Joint Board chose Prairie Public Broadcast was its broad viewing area, their expertise and their tradition of producing high quality, award winning documentaries. We weren’t expecting it to win any awards this is an added bonus and we couldn’t be happier”.
John Elsperger, Devils Lake Basin Joint Water Resource Board Chairman, stated “we knew we had a good story to tell and we wanted to put together the best possible product we could. The folks at Prairie Public Broadcast were the right people to team up with for that. After viewing the completed project we knew we had something special but then again we are a little biased. Being nominated for such a prestigious award is fantastic, we are all very thrilled and could not be prouder of the documentary and all who helped make it possible.”
Winners will be announced at The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences -Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® Awards Gala and Gold & Silver Circle Awards Saturday, September 29th, 2012 at the State Theater in downtown Minneapolis.
