Rodney "Rod" Kelly, 63, of Kansas City, MO, passed away due to surgical complications on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 1 at Platte Woods United Methodist Church, Platte Woods, MO. Dr. Steve Breon officiated the service. Rod was raised in Brocket, ND. He attended grade school in Newbre and Brocket and graduated from Lakota High School. He served in the United States Air Force, making his home in Kansas City. Rod was a lifelong owner of Kelly Siding and Windows. He was a long time member of the American Legion in Parkville, MO. Rod was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all those whose had the privilege of being part of his life. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Theresa; sons, Eric Kelly (Rachael), Manhattan, KS, Trent Lane (Shelley), Hastings, MN, and Troy Lane, Ft. Dodge, IA; daughter, Tricia Buford (Kinyoun), Kansas City; brothers, Vernon (Denise), Lawton, ND, and Dale (Judy), Weatherby Lake, MO; sisters, Marcia Kelly (Ed Nelson), Golden Valley, MN, and Colleen Thompson, Garrison, ND; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Kelly and Adelia Kelly, and his brothers, John, Kenneth, Dennis and Jim. Cashatt Family Funerals, Platte Woods, is in charge of arrangements.
