  • The next regular meeting of the Red River Basin Commission will be anything but regular. Members of the commission will be taking a bus tour today to view the Devils Lake area road raise projects, the East End Devils Lake pump station and outlet and the Tolna Coulee Control Structure. The meeting itself will be held at Stump Lake Park. Joe Belford, the RRBC Vice Chair, said the tour is for the benefit of those in Canada and Minnesota, who have yet to view the flooding first hand. “There are some people in Fargo on the board that haven't seen it yet, either,” he noted. He said officials will be on hand to answer questions and they hope the “show and tell” tour will keep harmony between North Dakota and its neighbors. “It's something we needed to do,” Belford said. The RRBC is a non-profit organization that works across the political boundaries of Manitoba in Canada and Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota in the U.S. to create a common vision and a unified voice for action on Red River Basin land and water issues.
